This is another subject I've painted before! Twice...well more than that actually! This building has been a model for a few paintings. It's an abandoned house in the old townsite of my home town of Forgan, Saskatchewan. I think my Dad said it was a house built by CN rail for some of the people responsible for the railroad station...I'll need to ask him.
This version I painted last year and it has a home with a lovely collector ( and cousin) in Saskatoon! ( waving at you Marla!). I painted another larger version last year for Artwalk (24X24 inches) and many people loved it but I was asked several times if I had any smaller versions...so that is why I painted another smaller one for this year's Artwalk. We'll see it it finds a new home. The bigger one is living at The Healing House On the Lake! right across the street from me...I go there for some massage therapy and energy work! Really worth it!!
Are you seeing a theme here? I love this old building and a few others in my old hometown. This one I painted over 3 years ago. It is painted entirely with a palette knife! I need to do more with the palette knife. I can make great marks with a knife that you just can't do with a brush! This painting has a lovely home with another lovely collector! It was the first painting I sold at ArtWalk in 2011 (the first time I sold a painting at a show)!
And here's the model for my paintings. Its amazing how one image can generate entirely different results. And now that I think of it...I have used this image in a couple more paintings....It just shows you how flexible and versatile our imaginations can be!
