I know this is older news, but I wanted to write a bit about the flower painting workshop that I attended. I joined the Federation of Canadian Artists back in April and I was fortunate enough to get a spot for a one day workshop with Ingrid Christensen from Calgary. Her website is here: http://ingridchristensen.visualserver.com/index.cfm
I like her style and her use of colour and I enjoyed the day. I have an unfinished floral still life sitting here, and I hope to work on it again....I am finding my workshop pieces are , well major practice pieces....I am still learning. Here's a few photos of what we did.

This is my attempt at a peony from the still life set up. I'm very happy with how this turned out!
This is a sketch of a yellow daisy. I have always found yellow flowers challenging....what colour are those shadows?? I learned a bit on THAT subject during the workshop.
In addition to learning colour skills, my observation skills are improving. For me, painting and drawing are really just learning how to SEE.
