I've been reflective this last week, with all that has been going all in the world. My mind races from thinking, how can I help? Is my family safe? Am I prepared for catastrophe? It makes me feel immobilized and I question why am I doing my art making when there is so much in the world that needs attention. I then remind myself that creativity, even amongst disaster, is a way to get through that disaster. Making art gives me joy and brings me a sense of peace. Perhaps that is why I do it; for myself and to pass those feelings on to others.
I decided to honour spring with two rose paintings. Flowers are one of my favourite things! I love taking photos of them and these are from photos I took many years ago. Pink roses signify grace and elegance and they are small works 6X6 inch each painted with a palette knife. I had to do a great deal of observation...What IS that colour in the shadows?? I enjoyed doing these and plan on doing a few more!
