Last weekend I had a wonderful time at my first Artwalk 2011 here in Lake Country. This Art Show and Sale attracts 6000-7000 people to our small town and 300 Okanagan artists are juried in to exhibit and sell their work. I spent 2 days chatting to people about my work, demonstrating my painting process in my exhibit with my plein air setup, and participating in a "Paint-off" where 3 artists are given a surprise still life and have 15 minutes to start and finish the painting! It was a blast!
Lake Country has a vibrant artists community and there are many talented artists here and I am honoured to have participated in this event. I had lots of interest in my work, was approached by a local interior design firm and I sold 3 paintings...all 3 are going to great homes! I met many wonderful artists and art lovers!

This is Diane! One of my happy customers! This cute painting seemed to get the most attention...I believe I could have sold 10 of these!
This smiling couple (whose names I cannot remember other than both their names start with the letter K!) won my 15 minute paint-off attempt of the violin and flowers still life !! Talk about pressure!!
This painting from my Abandoned
series was sold to my librarian and artist friend Louise! Can't wait to see where it will hang!
And The Team was sold to a young art collector and horse fan who is 8 years old! She was very "persistent" and came back with her big brother several times to stand in front of this painting and chat while I painted. Then, returning one last time, to my delight, she announced she was purchasing the painting, with mom, standing there, nodding her head enthusiastically!
In addition to Artwalk, I have a painting at the Lake Country Art Gallery in the Artwalk Theme Show from September 10-October 7th AND many other paintings are at a solo exhibit in the Lake Country Branch library! If you are in town, stop by and take a look!
