Well I spent the last couple of days doing some more artwork.  Here's a collage of my new "By the Sea" paintings (for a closer look see my gallery tab).  I took them down to the gallery today.  You know I really enjoyed painting these little pieces!

Some of you asked about our new dog, Austin.  Here's a picture of him enjoying the snow out on our regular hiking trail.  I usually take him here most days, but haven't made it the last 3 days.  Too darn cold at -10 C or so. And now its snowing  and I am minimizing the driving until the roads are cleared up!  Austin is now 9 months old and he's 3/4 standard poodle and 1/4 golden retriever!  He's VERY bouncy!  I see a few doggie portrait paintings in the near future!  He's so cute!

A funny thing happened at the art gallery....

Hi All!   Most of you may know I've been busy building this website and blog and painting/drawing.  My first juried exhibition and sale is on now at our local gallery.  Thomas and our boys and I went down there yesterday for the opening and they left me there to meet  my friends Angelika and Sheryl.  I found my artwork nicely displayed, but was confused when I didn't see 4 of what I thought were my best works.  Angelika commented on it too and I guess I was feeling a bit unsure of what to do.  While I stewed about this over tea in the coffee shop beside the gallery, the curator for the show spotted me and waved (he was hanging up more artwork in the coffee shop).    I was just considering asking him why my 4 "By the Sea" paintings were not on display when he broke out into an enormous grin and said "Didn't I tell you they would sell?!!"   It took a few seconds for those words to sink in...then I erupted with a "WHAT?!!"  The gallery had had a wonderful opening day with lots of artwork selling and my little 4"X4" "By the Sea" paintings were gone very early.  Wow, what a paradigm shift from near disappointment to elation!  My first sale to an unknown collector!

Here's a collage of the paintings together.  You can see them  in my gallery section.  I am very thrilled.  The sale has been such a success that the curator asked me if I had any more pieces like this.  I was thinking about continuing this series.  Now I'm motivated and I'll do another set with different figures and submit them!   We'll see if the others sell!  I feel so grateful!    I better get to work!
